Today is thesis day.

That means I get to spend the day transcribing interview after interview. For those of you who don’t know, about one hour of interview takes around four hours to transcribe. The average interview length is a little over 2 hours and there are 10 interviews. 20 hours of interviews x 4 hours of transcribing= 80 hours of transcribing. Yay for math.

This much focused attention deserved a double chai latte. Complete with my homemade coffee cozy! I love these things, while it doesn’t solve the problem of the to-go coffee cup, it makes me feel a little bit better that a part of it is reusable. Being at home means a lot of attention from this little one! Whenever I bring out the camera, it’s like she decides that she couldn’t possible sit still or look cute. I find it so hard to get a decent photo of her.

Amanda, Evan’s sister sent us some solstice gifts and I got this amazing scratch map! The entire map starts off as gold but then you scratch off all the places you have been to reveal different colors below. I think this is such an awesome idea.

Evan and I are currently debating on whether he can also scratch off the places he’s been. Most of the places he’s been without me are when he was working on a cruise ship and I’m wondering, do those even count? I mean, it’s not like he actually spent a lot of time there. Except Alaska. He really did go there a lot. I thought I would leave you today with some craft inspiration (and additional photos of Mona).
